About This Timepiece
Serial: 5.2M Case: Amazing case showing light signs of wear for its age. Factory finishing, chamfers, and bevels are in top shape. Dial and Hands: Original "Mk II" white Submariner dial with the tritium aging to a light custard and matching hands. Bracelet: 11 link 93150 Oyster bracelet and 580 end links with diver's extension. Clasp is stamped M9 with very little stretch. Accessories: Watch only. Notes: An amazing example of a 1680. The “White Sub” might be one of the best deals in vintage Rolex today with their “Red Sub” counterparts going for more than double in price! The nickname refers to the “SUBMARINER” text. The earlier examples were printed in red and after about a 6 year run replaced with these printed in white. This one not only has a spectacular case, but has one of my favorite examples of a faded bezel insert. The once jet black insert has faded into a charcoal and ghosty gray depending on the angle you’re seeing it from.
