Frequently Asked Questions

A dozen honest answers to the questions I hear most often. If yours is not here, email me at pat@crownedkoi.com and I will answer personally.

1. How do I buy a watch from Crowned Koi?

Browse the current collection, click the piece you like, and use the inquiry button to confirm availability. From there I will walk you through payment, shipping, and any pre-delivery inspection you want. Every order is handled personally.

2. Can I sell you my watch?

Absolutely. Send me photos, paperwork, and the reference number through the sell your watch form and I will come back with a firm cash offer within one business day.

3. Do you take trades?

Yes, and trades often stretch further than cash. Start a trade inquiry with your watch and the piece you are eyeing and I will work out a number that makes sense for both sides.

4. What if I want a watch you do not have in stock?

That is what sourcing is for. Tell me the reference, the condition you want, and your budget. My network of collectors, dealers, and estate contacts is deep, and most requests turn up something within a few weeks.

5. Do you service watches?

I coordinate full service, case restoration, and light maintenance through trusted independent watchmakers. See the services page for what is offered and how drop-off works.

6. How is the watch shipped?

Fully insured overnight FedEx Priority Overnight, adult signature required, discreet packaging, and no driver release. You can also choose to pick up at an authorized FedEx location near you. Full details live on the shipping policy.

7. Can I return it if I change my mind?

You have 72 hours after delivery to notify me and then 3 days to ship it back in original condition. Refunds go back within 5 business days. The full process is on the returns policy.

8. How do you authenticate?

Every watch is authenticated in-house: case references and serials, movement grade and finishing, dial printing, bracelet stamps, paperwork continuity. When something warrants an extra set of eyes I loop in an independent watchmaker before the piece is listed.

9. Can I see a watch in person?

Yes, by appointment in New York City. Mention the reference in your email and I will send available windows. Discreet locations in Manhattan; times run Monday through Saturday, 10am to 7pm Eastern.

10. How can I pay?

Domestic or international bank wire for any amount, Zelle for domestic buyers, and Stripe credit or debit card up to our card limit. Wire and Zelle instructions are shared securely at order time.

11. Is there a warranty?

Unless a listing says otherwise, every watch includes a one-year limited mechanical warranty from the date of delivery, covering defects in movement function under normal wear.

12. What if my watch arrives damaged?

If there is any visible damage to the outer box or tamper indicators, note it with the driver, refuse delivery if you can, and email me photos the same day. I manage the carrier claim on your behalf; you are not on your own.
