In-House Authentication
Every watch is authenticated by hand.
Patrick personally inspects every Crowned Koi timepiece before it is listed. We do not outsource authentication. The process below is how we stand behind each watch we sell.
Movement inspection
We open every watch and verify the caliber matches the reference and era. Bridges, jewels, and escapement components are examined for originality and service quality.
Serial and reference verification
Case, caseback, and movement serial numbers are cross-checked against brand records and known production windows. Reference numbers must be consistent inside and out.
Case, dial, and hands originality
We evaluate the dial, handset, and case for factory correctness — lume tone, printing, font, and case geometry are compared against period-correct reference examples.
Service history
Where possible we request prior service records from the seller and verify them against the physical condition of the movement.
Box and papers verification
When a watch is sold with original box, papers, warranty card, or service receipts, we confirm the paperwork matches the serial and reference on the case.
Weight and measurements
Each watch is weighed and measured (case diameter, lug-to-lug, thickness) to detect aftermarket cases, polished lugs, or swapped components.
UV lume inspection
We inspect lume under UV to confirm hands and dial markers match in age and material — a common tell for redials and service dials.
Pressure testing
If the watch is sold as water-resistant we pressure test to the depth claimed before it leaves us.
